EDUCATION BA in Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Environmental Policy & Culture from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL MINI-BIO Emily is an AmeriCorps VISTA member at the Coos Watershed Association through the United Community Action Network (UCAN) Coalition, serving through August of 2012. During college, she researched community development efforts in Chicago's urban gardens and helped with Field Museum research about herbal health and healing. She also spent a year in China and Argentina studying environmental policy, and became a Udall Congressional Scholar in 2010. A Wisconsin native, Emily is excited to be exploring the Pacific Northwest for the first time. She loves to be outdoors and experience the natural world. WHAT EMILY DOES AT COOSWA At the Coos Watershed Association, Emily is in charge of developing new educational programming and generating resources for those new programs. She is specifically focusing on a natural resources internship program for Southwestern Oregon Community College students and K-12 service-learning activities at the Matson Creek Wetland Preserve, including the Master Watershed Steward Program for Youth.
