MINI-BIO

Dan has lived in the Coos Bay area since the sixth grade. He worked at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology doing maintenance in grounds keeping as a summer job during high school. His work around OIMB and his participation in the Coos Natural Resource Systems course at Marshfield High School peaked his interest in environmental systems. He is currently working towards a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Natural Resources from Oregon State University.

Dan and his wife Nicole live in Allegany with their two cats O’Malley and Abby, and their Golden Retriever "Sadie" where they feel closer to the outdoors and the activities they love the most; camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

WHAT DAN DOES AT COOSWA

Dan participated in a work-study program with the CoosWA nursery when the nursery was located on the SWOCC campus. He then took a summer position on a field crew and was offered a staff position as a Monitoring Technician after he graduated. As a Monitoring Technician at the Coos Watershed Association, Dan has taken on progressively more responsibilities. He now manages multiple survey crews and acts as a crew leader on mostly aquatic habitat inventory surveys, does a lot of data analysis, and grant proposal and report writing. He also continues to manage the Association’s tree nursery, which has been relocated to a site on the Matson Creek Wetland Preserve.
