EDUCATION BS in Natural Resources and Watershed Management, 2002 MS in Civil Engineering, 2005 MINI-BIO As a teenager growing up in western Oregon, Nick remembers first becoming environmentally conscious while learning to fly fish. Since then he has worked as a research assistant at the University of Idaho studying the long-term effect of wildfires on channel morphology, as a hydrologic technician with the forest service and a private consulting firm, and as a hydrologist for the Idaho Department of Water Resources. As a hydrologist he worked with water-quantity limited streams and did modeling to understand how to manage these systems to benefit endangered species such as trout and salmon. Nick continues to enjoy fishing, hiking, snow skiing, and hunting. WHAT NICK DOES AT COOSWA Nick is very interested in working to create and restore habitat for trout and salmon, and that is just what he does as the uplands project manager at the Coos Watershed Association. He is in charge of large wood placement, road-related fine sediment reduction, fish passage improvement projects, and all of the grant proposal and report writing that goes along with that.
